2. Information We Do NOT Collect
URLtoMD is designed with minimal data collection as a core principle. We do not collect:
- Your name, email address or any other personal identification information
- The URLs you submit for conversion — these are processed in real time and not logged or stored
- The content returned from URL conversion — no converted Markdown text is stored on our servers
- Your IP address, device information or browser fingerprint by URLtoMD itself
- Your location, search history or browsing behaviour outside of this site
- Any account credentials — URLtoMD requires no registration or login
3. Information That Is Processed
3.1 URLs You Submit for Conversion
When you paste a URL and click Convert, the URL is passed to the Jina AI Reader API (operated by Jina AI GmbH, Germany) at the endpoint r.jina.ai. The API fetches the webpage at that URL, extracts the text content and returns clean Markdown to your browser. This processing happens in real time. URLtoMD does not receive, log or store the URL or the returned content on our own servers — the API call is made directly from your browser.
Jina AI's public reader API is a publicly available service. By submitting a URL, you are directing URLtoMD to make a request to this public API on your behalf. Please do not submit URLs containing sensitive, confidential or personal information. For Jina AI's privacy practices, see jina.ai/privacy.
3.2 Google AdSense
URLtoMD displays advertisements served by Google AdSense (operated by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Google AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies to serve personalised advertisements based on your interests and browsing history across the web.
Specifically, Google AdSense may:
- Place and read cookies on your browser to deliver interest-based ads
- Use your IP address, device information and browsing behaviour to select relevant advertisements
- Collect data about your visits to this and other websites to build interest profiles for advertising purposes

You can opt out of Google's personalised advertising at any time by visiting Google Ad Settings or by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
3.3 Cookies
URLtoMD itself does not set any first-party cookies. The cookies on this site are set exclusively by Google AdSense for advertising purposes. These are third-party cookies managed entirely by Google.
You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time. Note that disabling cookies may affect the display of advertisements but will not affect the core functionality of the URL conversion tool.
4. How We Use Information
URLtoMD does not use, process, sell, rent or share any personal information because we do not collect any. The only "information" that passes through this site is the URL you submit for conversion, which is immediately forwarded to the Jina AI public API and never stored by us.
5. Third-Party Services
URLtoMD uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy and data practices independent of URLtoMD:

- Google Fonts — Used to load the DM Sans and Syne typefaces. Fonts are loaded from Google's servers, which may log your IP address. Google Privacy Policy
6. Children's Privacy
URLtoMD is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has used this site, please contact us at hello@urltomd.in and we will take appropriate steps.
7. Data Security
Since URLtoMD does not collect or store personal data, there is no personal data at risk on our servers. The site is served over HTTPS (SSL/TLS encryption) to protect data in transit between your browser and our web server. URL submissions to the Jina AI API are also made over HTTPS.
8. Your Rights (GDPR & Indian DPDP Act)
If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including the right to access, rectify, erase or restrict processing of your personal data. Since URLtoMD does not collect or store personal data, there is no data to access, correct or delete.
If you are located in India, you have rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDP Act). Again, since URLtoMD does not collect personal data, no action is required on our part.

When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of URLtoMD after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
